Just Do It

A lot of people know when they need to do something, but they don’t get started doing it.

Just start

Want to get fit? Wear your shoes and go for a brisk walk or jog for 15 minutes. Do it everyday.

Want to learn how to play the guitar? Buy/borrow/rent a guitar and start playing for 15 mins everyday. Do that today.

Dream of writing a book? Write a 300 word summary of the story that’s in your head so far. Do that right now.

Want to start a YouTube channel? Place your smartphone on a stack of books pointing towards you, hit record, and start talking. You can stop reading this right now and get started.

Sitting on a business idea? Find your potential users in online communities and validate whether your idea is real and worth pursing.

Want to become a coder? Find the first video on YouTube with a lot of views on the subject and start watching.

Start today

A lot of people overcomplicate the simple stuff. Start by taking a baby step.

It’s complicated to build a massive business. It’s simple to find 1 potential customer to talk to and pitch your idea. Do it today.

It’s complicated to become a famous musician and grow your YouTube following. It’s simple to pick up your musical instrument and play one song. Start today.

It’s complicated to write a 60,000 word novel. It’s simple to write the first 500 words. Do it now.

It’s complicated to become a programmer who can make large applications. It’s simple to print “hello world” in every computer language. Pick any and do it in the next 10 minutes.

You are the blocker

I don’t know who needs to hear this, but whatever you think is a barrier towards achieving your goals, the real barrier is you, or more specifically it’s your mind.

Human beings are the biggest enablers as well as limiters in their own progress.

We make up reasons in our mind for not being able to do something. Those reasons then slowly simmer in our mind’s boiler until they are cooked to a point where it feels painful to even touch it. Don’t let made up reasons cook in your mind.

Just do it

For whatever it is that you need to do, and whatever it is you think that’s stopping you, forget for a moment that you have any memory of what’s stopping you, and just do it.
