Sunday Coffee ☕️ #0057

July 18, 2021

☀️ Good Morning

Last week, Shopify released Inbox, an evolution of their existing products Ping & Chat.

Only, Inbox has a much bigger ambition. And by including it within the store admin, Shopify has made their customer conversations product a default option for every ecommerce store on their platform.

At DelightChat, our mission is to help D2C brands talk to their customers easily, no matter where they are. And Shopify's Inbox has sent us into a serious lurch.

  • What does this mean about our future?
  • What should we focus on?
  • Should we change tracks completely?
  • Should we carry on just like we were?

The truth is, I don't know the answers to these questions.

Here's what I do know:

  • We are talking to our existing customers to find out where we excel and add most value in their lives, with the aim of doubling down on those aspects.
  • We are trying to understand the set of customers best served by Shopify Inbox. DelightChat should focus on a segment that excludes this set.

Instead of being afraid of this turbulence in our journey, we are going to embrace it and tackle it head-on.

Life is an adventure. Let's find out what this arc holds.

On that note, here are 2 blog posts from the past that I revisited this morning.
